The Intramural program is one of the most appreciated traditions at Binghamton University. The general underlying principle of Intramurals is simply "something for everyone." Included in the offerings are traditional sports such as Soccer (Outdoor/Indoor), Football (Flag/Arena), Volleyball, Floor Hockey, Basketball, Dodgeball, Softball and Bowling. Each league is comprised of round-robin play with a single elimination tournament to determine an overall champion.

All current undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and staff members at Binghamton University are eligible to participate in Intramural Programs.

Registration information along with league schedules and standings are posted on information boards located in the East and West Gyms throughout the academic year.

Each intramural team sport/activity and tournament will offer Male, Female, and Coed leagues. Teams will also have the opportunity to participate in a competitive or recreational league within the Male, Female, and Coed League. Each league will consist of separate divisions. Coed team sports/activities foster a slightly different competitive atmosphere, as a prescribed ratio of players on the court or field. Socialization and healthy exercise are harmoniously combined in our comprehensive intramural program.

Individual and dual sports/activities and tournaments offer additional opportunities for athletic-oriented involvement for interested students, staff and faculty at Binghamton University. There is no fee for these activities.

Individuals who wish to compete in a team sport, but do not have access to an established team, will also find the "Free-Agent" registration roster in the intramural office. At the conclusion of a registration period, we will do our best to ensure participation for all of our "Free-Agents." Special Note: We can not guarantee participation. All Free-Agents are encouraged to continue to search for a team and notify our office when accomplished. For a more personal touch, individuals are encouraged to stop at our office to ask questions and/or discuss issues.

The Intramurals Program Office is located in room 102 of the East Gym (607.777.4259). Registration information and team rosters, as well as individual and dual sports/activities and tournaments, are always available during regular building hours.

Students, faculty, and staff participate in intramural sports/activities and tournaments at their own risk. Intramural participation will require a signature from each participant that will represent an understanding of all inherent risks. Persons injured in intramural activities are given emergency treatment at the University Health Service. Transportation for serious injuries can be summoned by calling Harpur’s Ferry Ambulance Service at 607 777-3333. All participants assume individual responsibility for providing their own insurance coverage.
